Research interests
My research interest is in structural geology, in particular in fracture analysis of carbonate rocks. My current PhD project is done under the supervision of Prof John Cosgrove and Dr Cédric John, and our aim is to understand the controls on the formation of fractures and stylolites in carbonate rocks above a salt dome at Jebel Madar, Oman. Both fractures and stylolites can be barriers, baffles or conduits for circulating fluids. Outcomes of this study could be used as a template when attempting to reconstruct the fracture and stylolite networks above sub-surface salt intrusions.
